Q: How does A1 demonstrate its commitment to quality?
A: A1 was one of the first, and remains one of the few, independent telecommunications distributors to achieve ISO 9001:2000 certification* and staff a dedicated Quality Department.
Q: What is ISO 9000?
A: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) develops standards to facilitate business
to business transactions all over the world. ISO 9001:2000 standard outlines the implementation
of a quality management system based on 20 elements that address everything from how an organization handles
product to how it trains employees and conducts continuous quality improvement.
Q: How long has A1 been ISO 9000-certified?
A: A1 first achieved ISO 9002 certification in September 1995. We were most recently re-certified to the latest ISO standard, 9001:2000*, in May of 2003.
Q: What does re-certification require?
A: A1 abides by a "continuous certification schedule" that requires re-certification audits
focusing on 50% of its quality system once every 30 months and surveillance audits focusing on 25% of
its quality system once every six months.
Q: Who conducts the audits?
A: ISO enlists independent auditing firms to conduct certification audits. In addition, A1's
Quality Department conducts complete internal audits every quarter as part of its commitment to
continuous quality improvement.
Q: How else does A1 demonstrate its commitment to continuous quality improvement?
A: A1 personnel receive continuous training and engage in regular discussions on ISO 9000-certified quality standards. From these discussions, employee "task forces" are assigned to address any areas for improvement within A1's ISO 9001:2000-certified* quality system.
