FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Executive appointments affirm A1 Teletronics' commitment to independent distribution model
St. Petersburg, Fla. November 20, 2000 - Further embracing the independent
distribution model it has worked to increase awareness of in recent months,
A1 Teletronics announces appointments from within to its leadership team.
Don Sturiano, former general manager and vice president of sales for the
organization, will serve as president. Former sales manager Patti Woods will
assume Sturiano's responsibilities as vice president of sales, and Wendy Fulvi
will expand on her former role as Norstarâ product manager as she steps into the
position of purchasing manager.
"Our customers are telling us that there is a tremendous need in the market for an
independent like ourselves," Sturiano affirms. "By promoting homegrown leaders like
Woods and Fulvi to oversee A1's daily sales and purchasing activities, I'll be focusing
on 'big picture' projects - like taking a strategic look at customers' needs and
continuously improving on our ability as a company to meet them," he adds. Sturiano
plans to begin by strengthening the training programs A1 currently has in place for
its sales, technical support, repair and refurb departments, re-centering the training
around the organization's commitment to quality control and customer satisfaction.
In addition, Sturiano will continue growing A1's local installation operations, which
were first introduced in 1997. Retooling the company's web site to integrate customer
account status, order tracking, and e-commerce is also on Sturiano's list, scheduled for
completion by the end of Q1 2001. Past INNMUG/ISLUA president Mary Powell was appointed as
A1's vice president of strategic sales and marketing in September to further develop
programs such as these.
Along the way, Sturiano aims to channel the efforts of his organization's strengthened
leadership into the challenge of championing independent distribution in today's telecom
buyers' market. "A1 has set a standard in the marketplace with services as unrivaled and
unconventional as our 24-month warranty on repairs and ISO 9002 certification. Recently,
we've raised the bar by introducing value-added services such as same and next day delivery,
a buy-back program, and free technical support. With our new, competent leadership
supporting these and other customer-centric initiatives, A1 will continue taking
customer satisfaction as high as we possibly can," Sturiano asserts.
Don Sturiano served as marketing director for the America II Corp. family of companies,
including A1 Teletronics, from 1993 to 1998. After five years of coordinating the
advertising, public relations efforts, and sales and market analysis for the corporation's
related companies, Sturiano was appointed vice president of sales for A1 Teletronics.
Before the close of 1999, Sturiano moved into the position of general manager for the
company, and was promoted to president just 10 months later.
Patti Woods joined A1 Teletronics' administrative team in 1992 and was named sales assistant
to the company's vice president shortly thereafter. After advancing from this position to
junior sales and into the role of a sales representative, Woods was promoted to sales manager,
where she remained for the last three years. Now, as vice president of sales, Woods oversees
daily operations for the company's sales force of over 50 telecom specialists.
Wendy Fulvi, a six-year veteran of A1 Teletronics, began in the company's credit and
collections department before moving into purchasing. Proving herself through the
years as a senior purchaser and Norstarâ product manager, Fulvi now leads a staff
of seven to coordinate the company's $40 million+ annual purchasing efforts.
Mary Powell, past INNMUG/ISLUA president, launched her career as an end user in the
telecommunications department of Philadelphia's Drexel University. Prior to joining
A1 Teletronics as vice president of strategic sales and marketing in September 2000,
Powell served as a national accounts sales representative for Shared Technologies
Fairchild, an Intermedia Company, and devoted over six years as an INNMUG/ISLUA board member.
